Orthodontics for Children

As parents, we want what's best for our children: healthy teeth and a nice smile. Early orthodontic consultation will promote good oral health and a beautiful smile.

The Canadian and American orthodontists associations recommend a first visit at age 7. Orthodontists can detect potential future problems at this age, even when there are still many primary teeth. Although the teeth may seem straight at first sight, the orthodontist can detect many problems that may be developing.

A consultation will allow the orthodontist to determine if interceptive treatment should be started or if a holding space is needed and the best time to intervene. The orthodontist may decide to wait and monitor regularly the development of the teeth.

It is best to treat certain problems when the child is growing. We reduce the complexity of future treatments and in some cases avoid maxillofacial surgery.
